Do not be afraid, for I am with you; I will bring your children from the east and gather you from the west. Isaiah 43:4-6

Easter eggs

David loves coloring Easter eggs -- this is the second dozen of eggs that he's dyed. In the picture, Grandma Arla came over on Saturday and helped him. And he eats them as fast as he makes them too!

David's new favorites -- eggs (made any way), bacon, dill pickles, and fish bites from McDonald's :-)

Super Elmo

Announcing David-Super hero Elmo! David loves this new shirt, complete with a cape. He also likes cooking up many pretend snacks and meals. Today he left the money from his cash register in the oven while we were gone -- hopefully it made a good return on the investment! :-)

A horse plus 12

Sorry, no picture this time -- David was sick, then I was sick and that combination doesn't make for good photos. But David is much better and he's been enjoying the bounty of candy and snacks from Valentine's Day. The past couple of weeks have been pretty interesting here. David's been practicing more words and his speech is becoming clearer. On Wednesday he counted with me to the number 12 -- he did need help with number 10. That was a little spooky -- a two year old who can already count to 12? So I asked him to do it again and the first time must have been beginner's luck! Whew! I was envisioning sending David to college as a pre-teen. (Think Doogie Houser!)

Earlier in the week, David asked for a horse. I replied in my best parent voice, "maybe some day," while thinking of my dad's answer when I asked the same question, "why would anyone want a fence tromping bad investment?" (Dad had first hand experience with horse ownership when he was a boy.) Maybe we should just look for a house in the country next door to the horse farm. :-)

Sick Valentine

Today was a sick day for David. Yesterday when I picked him up at day care, his ear hurt, so we went to see the doctor this morning. The diagnosis -- the beginning stage of pink eye and an ear infection, which meant that we were quarantined for the day. So we made the best of the situation and got out the Valentine's Day gift a day early.

The original post was about Lessons from Baby David, so here they are. For a two-year-old, he can be a pretty quick learner and these are my observations. :-)

1. Sing when you're happy.
2. Be kind to everyone.
3. Learn to say you're sorry, please, and thank you.
4. Play hard and at the end of a busy day, enjoy a big rest.
5. If a pretty girl ignores the kiss you threw, move on. There are other cute girls to be nice to.
6. Read about Jesus every day.
7. Love and honor your Mommy (parents) and family.
8. You can never have too many Elmos.
9. Dream big - should I be a chef or veterinarian today?
10. The potty isn't nearly as exciting as people make it sound.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Friends

On Saturday, our friend Grandma Arla stopped by to visit and brought her granddaughter Cameron with her. David and Cameron had a great time chasing each other around the circle in the house on an Elmo airplane and trike bike. Sometimes they even traded riding toys -- it didn't matter what you were riding as long as it moved. They had a really fun visit!

Feeling better

David spent most of the week at home sick last week. On Monday he left day care early and we went to see the doctor. Flu and strep tests were negative, so it must have been a virus with a runny nose, nasty sore throat and high fever. On Friday afternoon, he finally was fever free. So today we took a quick walk with Holly and David rode on the sled. This sled ride was much better than the last one!

Before and after

The Miller household is now in the flat screen age of t.v. technology! The DVD player was the first reason that we needed an upgrade - I didn't realize there were so many ways to say "I want Elmo!" when it died. And the t.v. had been switching from color to black and white for several years. So Mommy did some quick shopping and everything was set up on Saturday. I think we'd give everything a thumbs up and of course, the ability to watch Elmo has been restored!

New hat

I made David a new hat on Saturday. Since I gave it to him, it's been on all day! He likes being a model too.

It seems like David is growing again. He outgrew a pair of shoes purchased in October already!

Fun? in the Snow

On New Year's Eve, Sam and Katie, David's cousins, stayed with us and we watched movies and had lots of fun...until it was time to play in the snow. David wasn't too sure about the sled ride and it only took one round until he decided it was time to return to the warmth of the house! Every one else had a good time though. Maybe next year will be more fun for David!

Catching Up

It's been awhile since we posted new pictures -- we've been pretty busy in Indiana. David had a good Christmas. Santa found our house and brought a Jingle dog that responds when you read a story. His other gifts (from Mommy) included a Zoo and animals, books, a top, trucks, and more. David even found the time to do a little shopping for me!
