Isaiah

Do not be afraid, for I am with you; I will bring your children from the east and gather you from the west. Isaiah 43:4-6

Summer Days

David's all decked out for a hot day in Muncie! The hat really makes it -- I found that the best way for him to keep it on is to flip up the bill. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

It's hard to believe that almost one year ago, the adoption agency called and said we think we have a baby for you and it's a boy!

Happy Independance Day!!

23 lbs. 10 oz.

On Monday, David weighed 23 lbs., 10 oz and is 29.5" tall. He's growing up way too fast! Some of David's latest favorites are:

- waffles
- the books B is for Bear, The Story of Jesus, and Curly's Friends. We read every night before bedtime and sometimes add a few more books, but these are consistent requests.
- M&Ms
- Janelle at daycare and all the other helpers. He gets good reports every day.
- saltine crackers
- the sand box at home
- splashing big in the pool or bathtub

He has new shoes -- his feet grew an entire size since February! Last week, his chunky thigh got caught in the crib rails -- not once, but twice! Do you think it was a ploy to avoid going to bed? Hmmm!

Tonight I took him back to work with me and we were walking through one of the residence halls. I said, "David, when you get older I want you to pay attention in school and get good grades so you can go to college and stay in this residence hall (the honors hall). Can you do that?" He smiled and replied, "Yes!"  Go David!

Sandbox Upgrade

This weekend, Uncle Daniel and the Jennings family built a new sandbox for David. As you can see, it's big and pretty fancy with built in seating.

It was hard work for everyone.

But the end result is great! David likes to put his toes in the sand and last night decided to taste test the sand -- what can I say, he's a boy! We play in the sand most evenings now and it's a sad time when we have to come indoors. Now that we have a new place to play, anyone need a slightly used turtle sandbox?

Big boy on the move

Well, we had to move the candy dish last week from the end table. David figured out how to use a box of puzzles as a step stool and climb up enough to reach the basket and pull it to the edge. I found him running around the kitchen with a Reeses egg in his hand that he was squishing. Then the drool coming from his mouth gave away the real clue -- he had already eaten one. Evidence was the aluminum foil wrapper in his mouth. So I dug it out and unwrapped the second one in his hand and put him in his high chair. Some days you just need to admit defeat and minimize the damages!

Too hot

Whew! Was it hot over the weekend or what? So Aunt Debbie let us borrow Katie's baby pool and we put it to good use. David had a virus over the last week, but today he's feeling great! He's talking more and can say the word "baby" now. He also can say "yellow" in reference to a M&M. I can't believe how much he is growing -- the shoes that he had from in the winter when he started walking are almost too small now. Most of the 12 month clothes are in a bag to go to another little boy and last weekend I bought 24 month and 2T shirts. This happened way too fast!
