Gotcha Day

Announcing the arrival of David Brendan Miller! He's cute as a button and I can't believe that I'm a mom! Today around 2 p.m., we met at the adoption center and he's a very sweet baby. He doesn't feel like he's quite as big as was indicated, but he's got two new teeth and can pull himself up and stand. After we signed the paperwork, we went to local WalMart and picked up rice cereal, baby food, more Pampers (in addition to the 40 that I brought from home), and a few other supplies. He's been in bed asleep since about 7:30 and hopefully will sleep until around 6:30 in the morning,

For his name -- since the spring and the possibility of adopting a boy, I gave great thought to the right boy name. It needed to look good on a business card and also fit him. In careful consideration, I really felt that his Father knew the right name -- David. David is also the first name for my maternal grandfather, Houston Shaffer. He didn't use his first name (maybe it was too confusing to have two Davids in the family), but I think he was also named for his maternal grandfather, David. The middle name comes from my mother, who was named Brenda. My nephew was partially named for our dad, so it seemed right to share the honor with our mom.

Congratulations Jenn!
